Craig obtained his undergraduate degree cum laude from Washington and Lee University. He then graduated from the University of Richmond School of Law and began practicing law in 1994. Craig is a member of the Virginia and West Virginia Bars and has been admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in those states.

Craig has tried and settled numerous personal injury and workers’ compensation cases that resulted in awards for his clients exceeding a million dollars. According to the publication Virginia Lawyer’s Weekly, Craig obtained the largest workers’ compensation settlement ever reported in Virginia. Craig enjoys still hearing from that client’s parents with updates on their son’s progress. Craig more recently settled a motor vehicle accident case for a deserving client for more than $8.9 million.

Craig has consistently been recognized by his peers for his legal abilities. Craig was named a member of Virginia’s “Legal Elite” by Virginia Business Magazine. He has been selected as a Virginia “Super Lawyer” for the last 12 years, including recognition as one of the Top 100 Lawyers in Virginia and Top 50 Lawyers in Richmond in 2014 and every year since 2016. He has also been selected for inclusion in the publication “Best Lawyers in America” since 2013 and is the only attorney in Virginia recognized in both areas of his practice: workers’ compensation and personal injury. In 2018, Craig was inducted as a Fellow into the College of Workers’ Compensation Attorneys. That same year he was honored as a “Leader in the Law” by Virginia Lawyers Weekly.

Craig also strives to give back to his profession through his service to legal organizations. Craig recently completed his term as President of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. The VTLA is a 2000-plus member bar association dedicated to enhancing the knowledge, skills, and professionalism of trial lawyers and committed to improving the law and the fairness of Virginia’s system of justice. Before becoming President, Craig volunteered his time and served in multiple roles for VTLA for over 25 years. Craig is also serving his second term as an elected representative to the Bar Council for the Virginia State Bar. Craig was more recently asked to serve on the State Bar’s Judicial Candidate Evaluation Committee where he has interviewed and evaluated candidates for the federal bench, Supreme Court of Virginia, and the Court of Appeals of Virginia. Craig is also a member of the Lewis F. Powell, Jr. American Inn of Court and the Virginia Workers’ Compensation American Inn of Court. Craig serves as a board member of Commonwealth Community Trust, a non-profit organization that administers financial trusts for individuals with disabilities.

Craig’s experience in workers’ compensation and personal injury has given him a unique perspective on the overlap between these two areas of law. Craig frequently lectures at seminars on successfully resolving combined worker’s compensation and personal injury cases. He has also given presentations throughout Virginia on tactics for negotiating workers’ compensation liens in personal injury cases and has published articles on representing undocumented workers in workers’ compensation cases and negotiating cases under the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Act.

In his spare time, Craig enjoys coaching his sons in little league and travel baseball. He has also coached flag football, soccer, and basketball. He still can’t figure out lacrosse, however. He is involved with several charities, including Connor’s Heroes, and organizes annual benefit concerts to support those causes. He, his wife, Lucy, and his sons, Jackson and Wiley, can often be found together hiking, playing sports, or listening to live music. Craig and his family also have three large dogs, including a Great Pyrenees puppy they rescued during the pandemic, so please be kind if his suit is covered in dog hair when you see him.
